1. Diwali Festival – Also known as Festival of Lights is the biggest holiday in India. Diwali is where Indians clean and light their houses to make it look more welcoming for the Goddess of fortune, beauty, fertility and prosperity “Lakshmi”. Indians also light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness.
2. Aarti – Aarti is the form of a music/song that Indians sing during the Diwali. The aarti is sung to praise the Hindu Gods, where they ask the Gods for strength for the ones singing and listening.
3. Odissi – Odissi is traditionally a dance-drama genre of performance art, where the artist(s) and musicians play out a story, a spiritual message or devotional poem from the Hindu texts, using symbolic costumes, body movement, abhinaya (expressions) and mudras (gestures and sign language) set out in ancient Sanskrit literature.
